Pumpkins

Harvested pumpkins this weekend.

Sunflowers

We grew some pretty tall sunflowers this year.  We figure about 10-12 feet tall. Doug is standing on a six foot ladder and he is 6 feet tall.

Winter Bird Feeders

We  covered the sunflower heads with cheesecloth this weekend to hold the seeds when they drop and to keep the birds from eating them now.  My intention is to save them for winter to feed the birds.

Mint

I harvested and froze mint so I can have hot tea during those cold winter months.

Coleus

I gathered some clippings of coleus from Grandpa Bakken to root and grow over the winter.

Chilly Day

Kind of a chilly day, so I started a fire in the woodstove to make the house nice and warm.  Doug said that if I am going to be having fires in September, I am going to have to start hauling a lot more firewood :)

Cooper

Birthday Celebration

Celebrating Art's 82nd birthday today with a family gathering of about thirty at our house.  This fuzzy picture is of Art last year with one of his "babies".

Old "Jens'" Rose from a bush that we transplanted here when we moved from our old house in town.  We named it "Jens' Rose" because that was the name of the previous owner of the Vine Street home.
