We grew some pretty tall sunflowers this year.  We figure about 10-12 feet tall. Doug is standing on a six foot ladder and he is 6 feet tall.

Winter Bird Feeders

We  covered the sunflower heads with cheesecloth this weekend to hold the seeds when they drop and to keep the birds from eating them now.  My intention is to save them for winter to feed the birds.

Chilly Day

Kind of a chilly day, so I started a fire in the woodstove to make the house nice and warm.  Doug said that if I am going to be having fires in September, I am going to have to start hauling a lot more firewood :)

and After

Doug did a great job staining the screen porch.  I think it looks great!

This is our favorite room of the house.

Doug found a ceiling fan on CraigsList for $15.00.  Looks good.
"Good enough for a town this size."

Also had some time to sew up some dish towels today.

Old Rose

Old "Jens'" Rose from a bush that we transplanted here when we moved from our old house in town.  We named it "Jens' Rose" because that was the name of the previous owner of the Vine Street home.
