How to Make Homemade Laundry Soap

Grate Fels-Naptha Soap.

In a large pot add the grated soap and a couple inches of water. Heat on low until all the soap is dissolved.

Add 1/2 cup Borax and one cup Super Washing Soda.

Add some extra hot water and stir.

Pour the mixture into a bucket.  I use a five gallon pail.

Fill the bucket with hot water.  Stirring the mixture a few times.

I add orange oil for fragrance, about 20-25 drops.

Let the mixture sit overnight.  It will solidify and little and become kind of "gloppy".  I use between 1/4 to 1/2 cup per load of laundry.
I enjoy making this laundry soap, and it is very economical and cheap to use.  It is fragrance free, unless you add the essential oil of course, and it is non-sudsing, so it is great for front loading washing machines.  Overall this works very well.  I will spot treat heavily soiled or stained areas before washing items.
